Royal Scot, The

A fine depiction by Malcolm Root of this famous train travelling through a snowy landscape, the full title of which is "The Royal Scot at Christmas". The engine is no. 6100 " The Royal Scot" which has been preserved. In 1927 LMS brought out the the more powerful "Royal Scot" class of loco which could pull the train from London to Glasgow without changing the engine halfway through.

The puzzle has a fine collection of Scotland-related whimsies including a portrayal of the Loch Ness Monster and a composite of the Scottish flag.

As this picture was dated 2006 it was not one of the original "Malcolm Root" series. Also this example was cut from wood composition but packed in an older-style green box which suggests it was made in the later 2000's.
