Empress Eugénie and Court Ladies (Period)

This interlocking plywood jigsaw puzzle is cut in the simpler style of Victory's later puzzles and is thought to be of late 1960's manufacture, shortly prior to the 1970 takeover by J.W. Spears. The painting is probably the most famous by the German artist Franz Xaver Winterhalter (1805-1873), particularly noted for his court portraits. See also the Wentworth Puzzle Royal Family 1846, featuring another of his famous works.
