Sad Time, A

The manufacturing origins of this non-interlocking, solid mahogany-backed jigsaw puzzle are unknown but it came with a collection of c1920's-1930's puzzles by Lady Beatrix Wilkinson, who has her own dedicated album here on the Jigasaurus. The cutting style here bears close similarities and there are initials on the base of the box of BW! Coincidence or not?
This example is non-interlocking in style and features a 1915 dated humorous study which I have identified as being by the American artist Charles Clyde Squires (1882-1969).
