Spring Flower Arrangement

307-piece plywood jigsaw puzzle of unknown, probably amateur, manufacturing origin. This puzzle proved quite a challenge to assemble. This is in part because of its combination of push-fit and semi-interlocking styles, but also due to the very small size of the pieces, equating to around 3.6 pieces per square inch.

It is housed in a cloth bag and features, as its subject, a fine floral study by the American artist Elizabeth Lansdell Hammell (1889-1981). Born in Brooklyn and going on to marry fellow illustrator Will Hammell on Thanksgiving Day 1912, she supplied the majority of illustrations featured in "Hammonds Pictorial Library of Pets, Plants and Animals"
