Read and Heed!

403-piece plywood jigsaw puzzle of unknown manufacturing origin. It features a promotional poster issued by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, showing an address of 82, Victoria Street, London, the society's headquarters from 1923-1953.

The puzzle is cut in a totally non-interlocking style, probably by a skilled amateur cutter, and came housed in a c1985 St Michael's "wafer assortment" box. Whether this was its original box is unknown, so the date of manufacture could perhaps be as early as the mid 1920s, or possibly as late as the mid 1980s.

The painting features a very fine study of a male Great Spotted Woodpecker, and carries a set of initials in the lower left corner. So far, I have not been able to identify the artist.
