Shaw & Co Ltd, A.B.

Better known as a publishing Company, A.B. Shaw & Co Ltd are thought to have marketed card puzzles and a very small number of wooden jigsaws in the 1930's-1940's under the "Matchless" and Champion" labels.

They were based in Creed Lane which is a narrow street just off Ludgate Hill and very near St Paul's Cathedral. Judging by the various cutting styles demonstrated by the examples illustrated it seems likely that they commissioned other manufacturers to produce the puzzles; the wooden ones quite likely made by Victory or Zig-Zag. They were also active in the post card market.

A list on the reverse of the first example, lists nine titles and promotes them as available in five sizes.
