Pike, Thelwell Mather

Thelwell Mather Pike (1866-1957), was a noted cricketer and footballer, including one international cap in 1886, before becoming a school headmaster and developing an interest in the cutting of wooden jigsaw puzzles, mainly for friends and family in the early part of the twentieth century.

Most examples included fiendishly complex cutting, predominantly in a push-fit style, and with very close attention to cutting along colour divisions. Some examples also featured very small pieces, making their assembly incredibly challenging, bordering on the impossible!
