Pennies from Heaven

Cleverly thought out plywood jigsaw puzzle, featuring a painting by the Irish-born artist John O'Connor (1830-1889) entitled "From Pentonville Road Looking West, London, Evening". Initially a theatrical set designer, he moved to London in 1848 and became well known for his cityscape paintings such as in this fine example of his work.

The puzzle itself features an interlocking border, with combined push-fit and interlocking pieces within. Most interestingly, the former maths teacher has integrated a little extra! Made for his great niece, he has cut twelve individual pieces in the shape of a British 50 pence coin, all placed within the sky area of the image. He then entitled the puzzle "Pennies from Heaven" and challenged the assembler to find the 600 pennies hidden in the puzzle!

The images and details of this puzzle have been kindly provided by members of Eric Pedley's family, so that they can be enjoyed by all. Thank you!
