Untitled-Short Story, A

High quality, 800 piece, fully interlocking plywood jigsaw puzzle from the "Langley Series" of "Connoisseur De-Luxe" range puzzles. Believed to be of c1930s origin, everything about this example shouts of class, from the thick 4mm birch ply backing to the very fine print reproduction and in particular the superb box and label presentation.
Whilst there is no mention of the actual manufacture on any of the "Connoisseur De-Luxe" puzzles they are thought likely to have been cut either by Victory, or by a re-employed Victory cutter, such are the similarities in style.
The painting is by Margaret Dovaston, a prolific artist, most often associated with period interior subjects such as featured in these puzzle examples, also displayed here on the Jigasaurus.
