Croydon Aerodrome

Magnificent example of the craft of wooden jigsaw manufacture by Holtzapffel, utilising the techniques of colour line-cutting and semi-interlocking sections to transform this Harold McCready travel poster into this very special puzzle.
The painting features the Armstrong Whitworth A.W. 154 Argosy MkI passenger aircraft City of Wellington being boarded at Croydon Aerodrome. These aircraft were operated by Imperial Airways from 1926-1935.
This style of painting, with large areas of single colour really show off the cutting techniques employed.
