Gateway Jig-Saw Puzzle

A promotional puzzle for Wiggins Teape's "Gateway" high quality paper for businesses. This brand of paper was originally made by the Portals Company who specialise in printing banknotes but they sold it to Wiggins Teape in 1930.

The design is very faint as is directly made from the watermark, which make the jigsaw difficult to assemble. A colour-enhanced photo has been included to give a better idea of the Gateway mark and other wording.

The puzzle comes in a book-box with a bold yellow-on-black illustration of the watermark on the front and a description inside the lid, plus a folded sample of the paper. An explanatory leaflet on watermarks is missing from this example.
