Very limited production British brand of wooden jigsaw puzzles, estimated to be of c1930s manufacture, and promoted on the box as being "Maze Cut".

I had never heard of this manufacturer until very recently, June 2026, but sure enough, Tom Tyler, in his remarkable 1997 publication "British Jigsaw Puzzles of the 20th Century", has them recorded in his index. Even more incredibly, the first puzzle featured here on the Jigasaurus, that of "An Irish Spinning Wheel", is the only title listed in his accompanying "Compendium". Whether this is an extraordinary coincidence, or simply an indication of just how limited their production was is not known. Perhaps this is the very puzzle which featured in his research!

Although the above puzzle carried an identity number of 4290, I do not think this is necessarily a puzzle production number reference, perhaps being a print reference number instead. Quite a few printing and publishing companies of the era were experimenting with puzzle production, either directly or through 3rd party jigsaw puzzle manufacturers.
